Alejandro Amenabar returns with Regression, a psycho-thriller about a small town dealing with what appears to be satanic rituals and the detective (Ethan Hawke) investigating the crimes that might be attributed to the rituals. One of the young women who may have been raped and assaulted during one of these rituals is played by Emma Watson who gives her account–at least what she can remember–of the goings on at her father’s barn/workshop.
Plot synopsis:
Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
Regression hits theaters on December 31st, 2015.
